European Burns Casualties Association (EBCA)
EBCA (European Burn Casualties Association) was founded in June 2008 by the “Association des Grands Brûles de France” (France) and “vzw Pinocchio asbl” (Belgium) to protect the rights of burns patients across Europe.
EBCA’s objectives are:
To increase awareness of burns injuries and fatalities amongst EU politicians and policy decision makers.
To improve and develop EU policy and regulations on burns prevention activities (smoke detection, fire safety of consumer products, domestic escape plans) and after care (reimbursement support for patients) - the overall objective to decrease the number of burns fatalities in Europe every year.
These main objectives will be achieved by collecting concise EU burns injuries and fatalities statistics, the causes of these injuries (analysis) and also the preventative measures that can be taken for future safety (fire safety issues).
It is EBCA’s overall aim to be the global voice for the individual (country related) patient groups and intends to offer a greater understanding on all elements of burn care and fire safety throughout Europe.
